The shoulder is where we handle brakes and air leaks, hydraulic hoses, tires, batteries and jumpstarts, lockouts, fuel, trailer lights and wiring, and computer diagnostics. A tow is our last resort, not our first move — we only recommend one when a repair genuinely can’t be done safely and correctly at the scene, and we tell you that straight rather than defaulting to the hook.
